Assessment

Discovery Peak utilizes a range of assessment tools and data to determine how well students are learning. Aside from many classroom and curriculum-based assessment tools, Renaissance Learning's STAR Assessment is used to determine reading and math readiness according to grade level and against peers. Renaissance Learning is also used for Accelerated Reader. NWEA's MAP is used quarterly to help measure growth in math and reading for 3rd through 8th graders. Amplify's mClass is used to determine reading skills for K-3rd graders. Finally, NWEA's AK STAR is our statewide annual assessment for grades 3 -8 which helps our school, the school district, and the state understand what students know and can do.

Parents have the right to make educational decisions for their child, including whether to participate in statewide testing.
